Eskista is a traditional Ethiopian dance from the Amhara region, performed by men and women, often in groups. It is a ritual of joy shared at weddings, parties and gatherings. The first single from the upcoming percussive-experimental duo Z/F's eponymous EP is inspired by this celebration of joy and the communion of dancing bodies accompanied by a slow rhythm that seems to come from the beating heart of the earth, driving the voices and ancestral harmonies that recall places far away in space and time.
Experimental multi-instrumentalist percussionist and producer duo Z/F aKa Zenabu and Firuzabadì from the bursting Parranda Groove Factory present Eskista EP, dedicated to the place where everything originated: Africa. Mysterious, fascinating, controversial, Z/F investigate the deepest soul of the mother land of humanity, evoking its distant horizons with slow rhythms, driven by the communicative power of percussive instruments, and ethnic voices mixed with electronic techniques, for a post-global sound excursion.
